Hondashi is a common ingredient in Japanese miso soup and tempura sauce. It is made from dried bonito fish with the essence of seaweed, and a dash of additional flavours. Dashi is a family of bone broth used in several kinds of Japanese cuisine. It is the base ingredient for miso soup, noodle broth soup, clear broth soup, and other forms of liquids for enhancing the flavour. It is also used with the flour base in grilled foods such as Okonomiyaki (Japanese Cabbage Pancake) and Takoyaki (grilled octopus).
